On November 11th - 13th, 2024, three core technical staff from JD-Electric made their way to Chengdu to take part in the Annual Meeting of the National Insulator Standardization Technical Committee. This event also witnessed the presence of renowned scientific research institutions and large enterprises, such as Tsinghua University, State Grid Corporation of China, Xi'an High Voltage Apparatus Research Institute, and Siemens.
During the meeting, the representatives of JD-Electric actively shared their perspectives with the attending experts on several draft national standards. Moreover, they got a comprehensive understanding of the latest national and IEC standards covering composite insulators, glass insulators, hybrid insulators, bushings and other related products. Simultaneously, the committee staff elaborated on the progress of cooperation between the Chinese committee and the IEC, sketched out the direction for future standard formulation, and extended a warm invitation to JD-Electric to be deeply engaged in formulating standards concerning composite insulators.
Notably, at this meeting, the professional and technical prowess of JD-Electric was highly recognized by industry experts. Looking ahead, JD-Electric is determined to continuously increase its investment in scientific research projects. It aims to collaborate with both domestic and overseas scientific research institutions as well as leading enterprises in the research and development of new types of insulator products, thereby contributing its wisdom and strength to ensuring the safe operation of power grids and electrified railways.
Introduction to the National Insulator Standardization Technical Committee (TC80)
The TC80 National Insulator Standardization Technical Committee in China serves as a professional entity that zeroes in on insulator standardization. It was established and is supervised by the China Electrical Equipment Industry Association. This committee shoulders the responsibility of formulating and revising a multitude of insulator-related standards.
For instance, the standard "Dimensions of Clevis and Tongue Couplings of String Insulator Units (GB/T 25317-2010)", which is equivalent to IEC 60471:1977, precisely defines the specific dimensions of insulator string element couplings. The "Test Method for Insulators - Part 2: Electrical Test Methods (GB/T 775.2-2003)" provides detailed testing procedures and requirements for insulator electrical tests. Additionally, standards like "Artificial Pollution Tests on High Voltage Insulators for DC Systems (GB/T 22707-2008)" and "Guidance on the Measurement of Hydrophobicity of Insulator Surfaces (GB/T 24622-2022)" play a vital role in safeguarding the performance and quality of insulators across diverse application scenarios. These standards cover multiple aspects including insulator design, manufacturing, testing, and performance evaluation, effectively propelling the standardization and healthy development of the insulator industry within China.
